Sounds like the EXGF is using her "bad" situation as a bait to get your husband's attention, and your husband, to his subconsciousness or with knowing intentions, likes to play the "hero" type.
Sit down w/ your husband, and ask him why he needs to spend 4 TO 6 HOURS chatting w/ her. I can understand ONE HOUR.. PER WEEK, when considering her "bad" situation. But, 4 to 6 hours is too much.
Also tell us: how is your marriage w/ your husband like, PRIOR to the EXGF popping back into his life? That could also explain why he spends so much time chatting w/ her.
