About five years ago I made this suggestion to my husband and we have been doing this ever since. I suggested we give ourselves a joint gift, we choose something we both really want and buy it together. One year we got a digital camera with all the accessories. One year we took a vacation together, another time we went out to dinner at Ruth's Chris. This way it is more about "US".

I think you should take her out for a lovely dinner, give her a pretty bauble, and then go downtown.

Not the downtown you can find on a map.

A screaming good O is free, you know.

Yeah, these are good ideas, particularly the vacation.

You remind me of a blush I saw advertised in a magazine yesterday - Multiple Os. The crap marketing comes up with...

Have you ever seen ads for the Spirit of Norfolk? It's the same company but the one in DC takes you all around the DC sights and it is lovely!!! Plus, dinner is good and you can't beat that. I'm sure it's cold as heck right now so that might be a HUGE drawback, but it is worth waiting to do during the spring time when the flowers are in bloom and the weather is just right!!! My hubby and I, while we are married we never had a big wedding so that is actually what I want to do. You can rent the yacht out and they will cater the event and it is just so awesome!!!
