My company allows us to telecommute one day a week, and I used to think Friday was ideal, until I noticed most holidays occur on a weekend, and there are no makeup days.

What day would you choose?

I thought about Monday but there are so many "official" holidays that fall on a Monday. It has to be Friday. Perfect lead in to the weekend.

Why would a holiday that falls on a weekend make a difference in choosing a weekday to telecommute?

Because you cannot change the date once you pick it. At least that is the theory, it gets confusing for management if people start trading, switching to avoid the Friday thing, etc. If you pick Friday, for example, you would be off anyway for a holiday. I say pick Wednesday, then you are almost guaranteed to always take advantage.

I voted Wednesday because it's the middle of the week and probably a pretty safe day to stay home and work.

Wednesday! Seems like a good way to break up the week! Or Tuesday so you can take advantage of the holidays that fall on Mondays!
