Their son is a mess. He is one year younger than one of my sons and their child has very few friends at school and none in the neighborhood. It is so strange. I guess they are always looking at the greener grass but don't realize it takes work to have it in your own yard.

How is their son a mess?

If he is gay it might be very hard to make friends.

When I was in school only the overweight stupid girls wanted to be my friends. Every now and again some guys would be cool with me...my dad however was pretty revolted that only overweight girls had wanted to be my friend. He would literally warn me not to associate with them because they looked like bad news.

I know that the home was an example but I think we as people in general are constantly looking or in search of something. It could be we are running from ourselves or do not know how to enjoy what we already have and need something more. Maybe it is the constant consistent need for more that drives your neighbors. I do not know. I have seen people with so much still constantly looking for something else. Maybe it is true we humans are never truly satisfied or may be they are only happy when constantly moving about who knows. Maybe they only feel comfortable in there own skin when moving....

No, I don't think so. He is hyper competitive and can never have a good time. There is always an issue. I wish I could tell you the whole story but it is so detailed it would be very easy for anyone to recognize the players if I told it and someone from my town read this...he is VERY high maintenance...

Hyper competitive? .... that sounds like everybody I used to know..... that will ruin any potential friendship.... his parents could be the same exact way... people with NPD or type A personalities...

I'm sorry if I came across as being snippy...I did not mean to. Perhaps they will never be satisfied but I see them as being unable to rest...to land in a safe place...but when they move they always blame someone or something else.

Maybe they don't know how to enjoy what they have. Perhaps you are on to something.
