I did have a male friend, a Sicilian American that preferred Asian women because he liked the tan color of our skins and found white women to be too pale looking.
I have seen Sicilians with a dark tan color and I have also seen Asians with ghostly pale skin.
I think there are two kinds of stares that one gets. Maybe three. One is the bigots, another those who are not used to seeing it and a third is those who have children, etc. in inter-racial relationships. In the third case, it's like getting a certain kind of car and then all of a sudden you notice all the others just like yours on the road- they catch your attention.

I think most of the time people who are claiming people are staring at them are just looking around to see if anyone's staring at them and that's going to get you looks in and of itself. I don't think most people give a ratsass. If you're looking for trouble, you'll always find it somehow.
