Have you ever met someone from a message board and found them to be just as their postings represent, be it good or bad? Or have you found them to be fakes/posers?

I've met quite a few and found most to be pretty much what I expected. If I haven't seen a picture of them, their appearance can be a big surprise, but the personalities have been right-on at least 90% of the time.

Mmmm, I'd say its about 75-25. 25% being they weren't much like they are online, 75% being exactly who they are online. I've met many, many people from online, and a large portion are still very good friends to this day. I re-connected with my friend from 1st grade via a chatroom of a band we both liked 13 years AFTER 1st grade.

I think people online have a tendency to be more blunt and maybe say things that they wouldn't say in person. So in that sense, people do have a different online personality. Being anonymous or just behind a keyboard can be a bit liberating.

Pretty much the same as they are online....sometimes toned down a little bit, but message boards are forums for stating opinions and regular conversations are usually less intense.
I have heard of people meeting posers though....like they lied about their job or something when they talked really big online.

I have met a few. One local forum had a little "get together". It was at a park, I took my dogs. One of the posters I was typically at odds with disrespected my dogs. It was almost a fist fight.

Overall, I would say the people were close to what I thought but, not as good looking. In my mind, all you folks are GORGEOUS!!!

You have to meet me then, DennyCrane ... I am the same in person as I am in these forums. I don't have a problem saying in person, the things I say in here. Some of my fellow California (an Arizona) CD people have met me already.
