I'm very careful on what I say to my nieces, nephews and soon Kali about their appearance. No matter what anybody else says, they will know that at least one person knows they're beautiful.
Amen.

Ugly Ducklings grow up to be beautiful Swans.
Ducks will always be Ducks.

It took me a while but I finally figured it out that I was a Swan. Too tall and too smart/geek to be a proper Duck. Ive always known I didnt fit in but I never considered myself to be any less. It was made pretty obvious to me that others did tho. Probably one of the reasons Im such a loner now.

I dont see it but my Huz says I have an attitude. I say nah thats just me. Im nice to everybody but I wont jump thru hoops so you will be my friend. If you cant act right then pizz on ya.

As I get older I feel kinda sorry for the ones who relied on their looks. Ive seen a few have major meltdowns when they hit a milesone like 30. Im holding up pretty good. But it wouldnt matter to me if I wasnt because who I am has never been based on my looks. Altho I wouldnt mind weighing 120 again.
Nah scratch that. Too thin for an old broad.

I was an ugly duckling in high school, but once I shed the baby fat and lost the braces I was a hottie. I married a geeky guy and now that we are in our 50's, I am back to ugly again. Sucks.

One advantage to being the Ugly Duckling...we get to swim in our own private pond, because our faces (and other places) scare the swans out of it...

To IZ: Im half serious...you really should never catch a glimpse of me when I just wake up in the morning.

LOL, there was a time when I was really quacking, too. Had crooked legs as a toddler. And fat like pinched sausages! My Mom was saying rude people were actually telling her I walk like a duck! Might scan a pic.

Sierra, your toddler self should have bitten them like some of the geese at our local park do to passers-by.

Such a great idea! My personality must've been underdeveloped at the time.

I don't know, but I was really chubby around the age of two. I've always been a picky eater pushing away anything "green" and I was given almost everything mixed with yogurt to make it passable. To this day I like eating some stuff with yogurt and people find it odd.
