A male friend invited me to dinner at his place on Saturday night. He is really nice but I don't know him that well? He told me he would take care of everything, if I wanted to pick up a bottle of wine and some candles. Does he just want sex? or, should I really not be reading into this?
geezus...this is the pathetic shape were in.... COME ON I can barely comment. YOU're going to a guy's house! he's talking wine.. Poor guy doesn't know that she's called upon the minds of CD! cuz she's already lookin for problems... IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN HIM DON'T GO ... OR AT LEAST HAVE THE GUTS TO SAY TO HIM WHEN YOU GET THERE TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT YOU ARE THERE AS A FRIEND.
--does he just want sex... oh god!
GUYS WANT SEX FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!
the more I think about this the more I think this is the typical female bs where all the onus is put on the guy. to me girls know waaaaay in adavance if they would in fact have sex with the guy or not. Is this post from someone who really needs advice or just another female making it look like a guy is bad because he's setting up a romantic evening.

A male friend? You don't know him that well? A dinner date at his place? Wine and candles? There's red flags all over this.
He wanted to candles so he could light them up and pray to God he'd get some. The wine was for after he'd be done to have something to drink in case he was thirsty.
I use the same tactic all the time. "Oh yea, come over to my place, I'll cook some nice dinner and we can watch a move after." When she gets to my place. "I forgot to make the food, lets just watch the movie instead." While the movie is playing try to make a move like cuddle, kissing or trying to take off clothes haha.
Works about 90% of the time then again you really have to make sure they are into you and they aren't a prude.
Works even better when you get a drunk girl from the local bar

If you are not interested.. DON'T GO!
And then the ladies get thier panties in a wad if the guy doesnt want roamance. Saying "whats wrong with me? Dont you think I'm sexy/pretty/worth taking to bed?" Guys cant win!

Sounds like as good of a guess as any! Though the wine might also be for her so he could get her at least partially drunk just in case she wasn't 100% willing sober.
I am agreeing with all the posts here and recommend you stay away from that night at his place.
