I haven't wondered about switching genders, myself, but I don't think it's all too uncommon. Perhaps what might be a bit of a contributing factor would be a state of arrested development in that period of thought, where one becomes bogged down and consumed by the thought, bordering on the obsessive. And, I don't know that it would necessarily translate into a sexual awareness as to the respective opposite gender about which one might ponder, though that may be indicative of a more intense feeling about the subject.

The only thing I think would be interesting about being a woman, is that it would be far easier for me to get laid/find love. If its one thing I hate as a man, its feeling like I have to constantly read a woman's mind and know exactly what she wants when she wants it, than having to deal with the fact that whatever she wants, she often doesn't want it from me.
Other than that, I'd have no interest in being a woman, that whole menstruation thing would be just a giant hassle, IMO. Not to mention, some of the cattiness between women at times. Even as a man, I think its an ugly thing.
I think it would be interesting to think like a man, maybe for a day, and then go back to being a woman. I don't want to be a man, but I'd like to get in one's head for a little while and see what that's all about.
Jesse, what you described is not necessarily what its like being a woman. I hate shopping and I hate shoes. Not all womens' worlds revolve around being pretty.
To answer, yes I think it would be great to be a man. Wearing comfortable shoes and underwear, no menstral cramps and bloating, not being embarassed to rip one in mixed company, pee standing up, going topless without being arrested, the list goes on and on. You guys have it made.

I agree. Guys have it made. I hate using public restrooms and having to squat all the freakin' time; it's annoying!
