I think you're confused with the Humane Society or something.

MSF sends doctors to help injured civilians in warzones.

No, I get it. What I'm saying is that the MSF is the only cause you're interested in?

Yes. I hate animals.

Well, not that I hate animals... it's just that, I care more about people than animals.

...

Well actually, yeah, I hate animals.

F--- animals.

Animals stink, scratch, bite and don't appreciate your efforts to help them.

The only animal I would ever help are birds, because birds eat bees and spiders (I was hospitalized by a spider-bite when I was little)

I'd rather help a baby human who lost his leg to a landmine than a baby dog who lost his leg to a beartrap or something like that.

no, no, not all animals do this.

and Cyan, you're missing the point. The point is not for them to "appreciate" you or for you to get ANYTHING in return other than the satisfaction of making something's life a little bit better because of your effort.

I think this view highlights the way you see dating as well. You want to get MORE than what you put into it and if you don't feel "appreciated", you grow bitter and resentful. In order to get 100%, you have to give a 100% but you're so worried about being taken advantage of and being depleted that you're afraid to do that. Of course one should always be cautious, but you are way preoccupied with being taken advantage of. I would figure what that's all about before I started trying to meet someone.

That's it in a nutshell. This is why the guy is having problems in the first place.

Cyan, I'm joining my local chapter of the Jaycees. They are an organization that raises money to donate to various causes, such as the Easter Seals (a group that helps people with autism and developmental disabilities), the Humane Society, Loaves and Fishes (a local food pantry), senior citizens groups, the American Cancer Society and other very worthy causes. There is something almost every week and weekend to volunteer for. There are annual dues, but they are not a lot, and the most valuable thing to can donate is your time. Like I said, there are always lots of things going on, and you just pick what you want to help with.

I went to my first meeting last month. My second meeting is Wednesday, and I can join at that time. There were over 100 people at that meeting, fun people in their 20s and 30s, people I can see being friends with. Lots of cute girls, too.

Just because they don't reward you with sex for helping them doesn't make animals bad you know!

I agree with temptation the bad attitude oozes out of you like pus. No wonder girls don't want to hang out with you.
