This makes so much sense-what I wanted at 20 seems like such a waste now that I am farther down the road. Looks can change over time or in an instant but good personalities like fine wines keep getting better!
Maybe if I was in my 50s as opposed to my late 20s, I would have settled. Right now I feel like I still have options.
It's funny - it works the opposite way for some. I had settled earlier in life in the hope of having a decent family, a nice home with a man, stability, perhaps a child... the average works... Now that I no longer care for marriage, I'm not gonna have any kids, I've got my home, I really have absolutely no desire to settle for anything less than what my little heart desires - be it for a day, a week, a month, or a lifetime... I've no need that would be fulfilled by "settling."
over time I have met men whom have had good personalities been nice, charming, caring and just all around good people however physically they were not what i wanted so i just offered my friendship.
now as i get older i wonder if i should have just dissmissed the looks and got into a relationship with them just to see where it went. I feel like sometimes I may have missed out on having a great relationship. But then again I wouldn't want someone to say" oh she's not that great looking but she has a wonderful personality so i guess ill give it a try"
so here's the question if you are not attracted to the person, but get into a relationship anyway is it settling? Or just waiting for what you really want. What exactly does it mean to settle?
It depends on what you're settling for.
For a life partner, I won't settle for anything less than someone who makes my toes curl.
For a dinner date...well, the hopes of good conversation is enough. Maybe chemistry can grow from that; maybe not.
Ha-ha, have you ever lived with anybody? Careful what you wish for!
