Back when I was single I took a similar route. When first approaching a women, I wouldn't tell her I was a Marine. There are no kidding Marine groupies out their who are either A.)looking to get knocked up and supported or B.)regular old groupies who just really really like Marines. I had part-time job delivering at Pizza Hut, and that's what I would tell them I did if employment entered the conversation.
To this day, I still don't broadcast the fact that I'm a Marine b/c people will treat u differently once they know, but if i'm out w/ civilian friends they can't wait to let the world know.
