i agree with Mearth here.

especially since two different guys have "confessed" to me that guys use generic terms to avoid having to "remember" the name of who they are with; and also to avoid calling whoever they are with by some other woman's name.

She probably got dumped by a guy that called her the same nicknames.
Tell her to get over it.
BTW, if you were hitting the switch, you could call her anything that you wanted.

Why dont you just quit calling her those things.
I always hated when my stbx called me hon. I dont know why it just got on my nerves so I started calling him princess.

I don't understand why this is an issue. For her own reasons, she dislikes those terms. To you, they're innocuous and just terms of affection, but to her they obviously have a different connotation. So the obvious solution is: just don't use them.

Hey guys, I'm back, sorry to leave you hanging. Thanks you all for your suggestions both silly and serious. I'm starting to suspect that she might be cheating on me, so it might not last much longer anyway.
