Your not alone. Plenty of experience with this myself. Most commonly when I'm walking in the city. I get my eyes on a girl and can see she is checking me out. As we get closer she doesn't. I think a big part of it is shyness, but also the barriers some people put up. Could be stress they are under or past experiences, or a number of other reasons.
