Someone recently sent me a DM here at CD to ask if I was his best friends sister that he used to have a crush on. . . this is a tactic huh? Hmmmmmm. . . interesting! (I'm onto you now and you know who you are!!)
I tried that few times with varying degrees of success. Overall I think it's a tactic best reserved for beginners who haven't really developed any game yet. If you know what you're doing, there are pretty moves to make.
Ah! As far as that goes...no. I've pretended to remember someone who remembers me before. It just seems more civil than saying, "Why am I supposed to know you again?"
I've done that too. The GUY said, "We played pool Tuesday." I replied, "Do you know how many games of pool I've played since Tuesday? You didn't beat me, did you?"
I have had this happen to me many times. Guys tell me they swear they know me from somewhere and then proceed to ask me out. It has never worked and is pretty pathetic.

Yes, makes for some very awkward moments.
Guy: Hey! You were in my American Government class!
Girl: No I wasn't.
Guy: Yes you were.
Girl: No, not me.
Guy: Oh, because I could have sworn you were .... so ... can I get your number?
