If a poll were taken by your co-workers, friends, relatives, neighbors, husbands, wives, children, what would be the poll results if the question was:

Are you a more pleasant/enjoyable person to be with when you've had a drink or two, or stone sober? Or best time to visit you? With or without?

There are those who can be more unpleasant with some alcohol and those who can be much more pleasant/enjoyable company, having had a drink or two.

My mother: Neurotic, restless, prickly, worrying, stingy when sober; give her a drink or two and you want to be with her the rest of the night, creates a total transformation for the better.

My brother: Normally talkative when sober, eerily silent with a little alcohol.

My Dad: A drink or two and he's headed for the easy chair for a good, long sleep.

My sister: Far more pleasant company without it, irritatingly giggly with it.

And you?

Depends on the day, sometimes I become much more mellow and relaxed, others I become loud and obnoxious.

When our group (co-workers) go out for special lunches together, we don't really have more then one or two drinks, and since I'm not a drinker, I usually have ice tea or something cold....once in a while I will have wine or one drink, but that's it, b/c and I'm going to sound like a commercial here...(drinking and driving just isn't a good thing) and I believe most of us have maintained that culture.

I don't believe I'm any different after having a drink? We all do have a lot of fun regardless...we have a great group of people....mostly women, in their early to late 40's who have a great sense of humor...and are just down to earth nice girls....great mothers and wives. Respectable and mature...

i dont drink, so i'm out of this one.
my brother gets irritating cause he laughs a lot and acts silly.
my father gets extremely talkative and embarrasing.
dh starts out "happy", but if he goes overboard---which has only happened twice since i've known him, he gets very depressed.
i prefer all of them without...

I'm just as fun without a couple of drinks as I am after having a couple of drinks.

alcohol is a drug of choice
just like marijuana or valium or crystal meth or heroin

if someone says they "need" to do drugs to do life, or to be happy, or to function in social situations, then they need help to address that problem

people justify and defend their addictions all the time
part of the addiction is dishonesty, as shown in these types of posts along the lines of it's ok because it makes me happy and i'm a nicer person to be around
