I came across a profile that I have seen a number of times but I finally decided to read it. Now I know why I never read it before.
The profile status was: Not Single/Not Looking. Not interested in a romantic relationship, just genuine friendship!
What would be the purpose of being on a dating website if you're not looking to at least go out on a date at the very least? I thought Facebook and Myspace and even Meetup were for people looking for "genuine friends"

Maybe she was there and found someone who she is currently dating? I don't know how those dating sites work, but would you normally cancel your account if you started seeing someone?
Maybe they were just looking for like minds to be friends with, or already had friend there, or were keeping tabs on someone they knew? Worked with? Spying? Too much time on their hands?
I dated a girl who had a profile like that. She ended up breaking up with me and dating some random guy off the site. Then she broke up with that guy and dated some other guy from the site later on. I don't see many people making friends off dating sites, so maybe she's looking for "something better".
BINGO....that was my initial thought......."playing the field".
