So many posts have continued to segue off from the original question which Ron posted and the waters continue to be muddied as people respond to anything but the original question.

In all my decades of dating I was never asked out by a man who said in effect, "Oh, by the way, even though I find you attractive, want to get to know you better and am asking you out on a date, I should let you know that you're going to have to pay your own way ..." I mean, come on, that is surely so ludicrous.

Even if I were madly attracted to the man and felt that he might just be the hottest deal of a date on the planet, my attraction to him would dissipate instantaneously with that caveat. Yikes, and this is still being discussed?

K, I figured out what going dutch was. At first I thought it was just some warped perverted sex move...kinda like the "Cleveland Streamer" or the "Sneaky Pete".

I'm retarded...

Ron should pay for dinner and should they leave afterwards to a bar for a few drinks, maybe the woman can reciprocate and pay for drinks. Just a thought.

Now if the woman invites Ron out, who should pay?

Ron should date a freegan, and then no one would have to pay.

My first dates always happen at a coffee shop or bar. I will buy her 1 drink, or a few at a bar. If we don't like one another, we are not stuck at a restaurant for over an hour.

I can't believe I'm going to defend Ron but, he's not the one who is name calling like a 5 year old. Somehow I don't think he's missing out on much if you turned him down.
