Update: I have limited my contact to the Machiavelli Manipulator, and I just want to thank everyone for the posts they have been very helpful. Now that I understand that it is all about control and how that is related to fear/anxiety it makes much more sense. I never realized that the manipulators I have met have also been very fearful.
Do you ever get the, "How am I being....?" As if to say, "What do you know so I can gather my evil thoughts to destroy whatever you know about me?" Just wondering.

If you let him, he'll manipulate and push you around. Just stand up for yourself and maybe even embarass him in front of others. The silent treatment isn't the answer.
