Maybe she's just one of those people without floodgates. I had a friend like that once - couldn't take her anywhere! She would just blurt out the first thing that came to mind at the worst moments.

She was totally jealous. Probably thought you were going to laugh at her for being the check-out girl and decided to throw in a punch first.

Nothing makes me smile more than less successful people that hate me for trying my best.

I can't believe you gained 25 lbs in 16 years. That's 1.5 lbs a year. How nervy of you. I swear if I were a dictator, I'd lock away every woman who had the gall to not keep her 18-year-old body for life. (joke)

For the record, I think 130lbs is a much healthier weight for a 34-year-old woman who is 5'6" than 105lbs. Of course you don't look 18 anymore .. because duh, you're not 18. I'm sure you're much more attractive to men in their 30s and older than your 18-year-old self was.

5'6" at 130 is a little on the lite side for me. I like em more like 5.5 and 150 or so. So I guess I'd call you a skinny gal.

It's just me of course.

Awwwww what a missed opportunity for a wild comeback! I would have said to her, "And..yes, I had to look at you twice to as I did NOT recognize you with all those wrinkles on your face"...geesh.

I think hitting below the belt like she did was totally ignorant and deserved a "hot" comeback. My Mother In Law is GREAT for these kinds of remarks. My husband and I went to see her yesterday and if you have seen me on here with my diet journal, you will know that I am large and in charge but have joined Weight Watchers and have lost (I think as today is class day) 22 pounds. My husband has lost 30 pounds. We haven't seen her in months as she lives quite a distance from us and you would think she would notice the weight loss and say something nice...NOPE. I mentioned WW to her and she says, "OH What did you weigh when you started, 300 lbs"....UH, gee, thanks Mom for the support. HOWEVER..She is also 81 years old.

Still not too late for a comeback for this friend...hmmm...college?? Now, just what kind of a degree gets her to be a check out clerk in a grocery store? Perhaps she had a thorn in her butt seeing you NOT working as a check out clerk, not that there is anything wrong with working in that capacity but if she was going to throw stones at you like she did, you could have said, "Oh, and did you finish college or is this job just temporary until you graduate".

I do not have any use for mean people, bullies or the like so next time she hits you, hit back...I know it isn't Christian but sometimes this is all that bullies understand.

You should have replied, "all that college, and you're checking groceries?"
