Making children work for slave wages in 3rd world countries is not evil? Business for profit is evil. Its about as savage as anything gets.

You know, when my wife started dating me, I didn't have two nickels to rub together. Meanwhile, she had just punted a guy who was a lawyer who had family money. According to her, she was impressed at how hard I worked. She knew that I would never laze around the house. Ha. Considering what I did this past Saturday, I sure had her fooled.

I certainly don't support exploitive labor practices, but business for profit is evil? Are you kidding me? How do you think all those nice amenities in today's society, all those technological advances, get funded?

I've always taken that into consideration. But what's wrong with having family wealth? And I also know some shady businessmen and tradesmen that made their money by underpaying their employees or overcharging for their wares. So being a self made man is not solely through the highest morals.

Magic!

I'm curious who manufactured the keyboard that she's typing on, and the monitor she's looking at. I'm sure it was all assembled by a domestic non-profit, who pays living wages and full benefits to American workers, using American non-profit plastics, etc..

But IMO the point is lost on some women. My point is there are plenty of ways to get rich. Some through genuine hard work (which is how I have made my money). I know men who are rich because of inheritance and I'm sure many get rich through devious means. At the end of the day though sadly, someone in society well off financially in most cases reaps the rewards regardless of how they became that way.
BTW do you feel that women prefer a man with family wealth over a self made man? Are you jealous of men with family wealth?

I suppose that one reason a man with family wealth might be more appealing is that his family might also have some higher social standing in the community. And those that come from family wealth are also raised a certain way, going to the best of schools and being culturally in tune with the arts and music. And a man like that may have more gentlemanly manners and knows how to escort a lady around the town with class and style. And money doesn't buy that sort of higher class behaviour.

It used to be that old money people were a lot more subtle about their spending habits, and it was the nouveau riche that flashed their new wealth around and covered themselves in tacky blingy jewelry.

Anyway, in your efforts to find your Miss Right to date and marry, you certainly don't want to flash around your wealth and end up with a shallow gold digger type. The right woman will be happy that you are a successful man, but she will love you for yourself and your inner qualities, not your fat wallet. Don't try to compete with the old wealth men for the same women.

you're right, there's no distinction between the two sums of money.

However, you just reinforced the OP's point: the origin of the money is merely a footnote.

Silly question. The clothes you wear, the computer you're currently using, the internet that you're posting to, the electricity that actually powers it all, the car you drive, the furniture you sit in, the shows that you watch on television, the food you don't have to grow yourself, the doctor who keeps you healthy, the refrigerator that keeps your beer cold, the beer you drink, the books you read, the music you hear, and the list goes on and on and on and on, ad infinitum. All of them were developed, refined, and perfected through investment capital, which was only given in expectation of a return.

Unless of course, you're wearing clothes stolen from a laundromat, living in an empty apartment, eating at a soup kitchen, and using this message board at a free library computer--which is somehow powered by a windvane on the roof of the building. In that case, I'll apologize.
