From TVSG's thread that reminded me of a couple of others as well. Are any of you offended or find it intrusive, in the acquainting stages, when someone asks you what you do for a living? I've asked and have been asked and have never had a problem either way.

I don't mind telling people my job, but I hate having to try and explain it.

I had a few friends who worked in the adult industry (at desks) and they didn't care to tell people. I think it just depends on what you do and how comfortable you are with it.

As long as it comes up naturally during a conversation and it's not shot out as one of the first items on somebody's sick "list" , it's fine.

I feel I'm defined by what I do, so I'm sure to get it out right away. Especially those times I worked overnights. Don't know why that would be a "turnoff" for anyone, but it is.

It does not bother me... but I do not like being defined by what I do.

I don't mind it in theory, I love to talk about my work.

Knowing it does make it very easy for anyone to track me down and stalk me though. That's never happened. But...

I don't think it's a big deal. It's just part of learning about someone - not much different from "what's your favorite restaurant?" or "where are you from?"

I was never bothered by the fact that someone would ask about my career...to me, it was no different than someone asking me where I grew up, went to college, how many brothers and sisters I have, what kind of music I like...never bothered me...
