My grandmother always told me this and now that I'm older and wiser I tend to agree. Although it can't be a huge difference or else one person will feel smothered.
You would hope in a marriage both parties got married because they love each other and would do anyhting for that person not because they are getting loved greatly and only kinda like the otehr person..
Women probably need more outward signs of love i.e constant compliments and outward effection where guys dont,well at least not as much as women anyway..Maybe thats where the man needs to love a women more thing comes into play..
Regardless you shouldnt love anyone in a realationship with 100% of your being in case it doesnt work out you dotn want to be hanging from a noose afterwards..
I think the reason the OP heard that is, that it is said that for the person in question, having your SO love you more, will ensure they are true, faithful and caring and giving 100% in the relationship, which will help keep it going well. It's the other person, the one that does not love as much you have to worry about! (cheating, treating bad, etc) Goes both ways, doesn't have to be the man.
