Good grief! Glad I don't live there, so I had quite a few years of no "ma'am"-ing to enjoy.

It is how we grow up so it is not strange to us...

Now, with that said I cannot stand to be called "Mrs. Mrstewart" by my kids friends, classmates, neighborhood kids, etc...sounds so darn matronly...I have them call me " Miss First Name"....

Yes, it's happened to me. I'm 40 and my husband is 34, but looks like he's 20. He's slightly-built and short (5'6").
On the other hand, people have thought my son, who's 16, was my little brother. So, I must look young for my age, too!

My son's friends have always addressed me by my first name...calling me "Mrs. Camp" sounds too matronly and old-fashioned to me.

The kids add "Miss" before my first name to give some sense of respect but Mrs. So-and-so is my MIL, not me!

In September of this year, at a wedding, someone asked me if i was my Son's older sister, i told her i loved her, and that I was the Mom, she still did not believe me and she made my day believe me. I had smiles all day long.

Wow,I thought it was bad for me when people thought I was my little sisters mom. She is 9 years younger than me.
But at the same time, someone thought I was her little sister.
Idk...

2 years ago I was dating a 25 year old. (I'm 37) Someone asked if he was my son. However to be fair, he looks more like an 18 year old than a 25 year old, so I suppose this was possible.

But still, it was the first time I realized my looks might be catching up to my age.

It looks like this is an old thread so I hope that you have found a hair dye that works and have had a make-over. perhaps even use a flashy, decorative cane instead of just a simple black one.

My favorite "mistaken age story" happened at a family reunion. It was for my dad's side of the family but we took my mother's sister along as she knew many of the people who were there. They were giving door prizes to the oldest, youngest, person who traveled the farthest, etc. The person in charge wasn't sure if my cousin J or my aunt were the oldest so asked both of their ages. My aunt was a very young looking 85 and my cousin was a very, very old looking 62. Several teenagers decided then and there not to ever start to drink to excess and smoke cigarettes.
