Everybody calm down, read, quit waiting for princes and princesses, and suck up once and for all!
In fact, the most scientific, rigorous marriage study ever done (in over a twenty-five year period by the Gottman Institute in Seattle, Washington) says something crazy amazing...
It says that ALL COUPLES - boring ones, romantic ones, friendly ones, volatile ones, you name it - ALL have TEN TO TWELVE IRRECONCILABLE DIFFERENCES that will never go away.
(Hence the word, IRRECONCILABLE...)
That's a mouthful, sister.
That means EVERY couple you know or have ever heard of (and all of those you don't know and haven't heard of) that you imagine are so blissfully happy and easy together have TEN TO TWELVE aspects of their relationship that they essentially have to SUCK UP.

50 years ago they were not perfect couples--- but they had obligations-- understood them and performed them. somehow somewhere-- we got rid of that concept.
Good article, sierra. I think it's absolutely believable. Like it says in the article, all a matter of how well a couple can tolerate those differences.

I agree. At the end of the day my husband and I are committed to always loving one another MORE than we love to be right, more than we love anything else on this earth.
Heck, my hubby and I aren't even registered in the same political party - you can imagine the conversation around our house in the last year, lol!!
Now arguing about which head of the 2-headed monster is prettier is a total waste of time!

Yeah, it certainly sounds good in theory. Not quite the same when you participate...
