SATURDAY, Dec. 5 (HealthDay News) -- Pity the poor single people who pass their 40th birthday without ever tying the knot, since research has shown that never-married adults have more health woes than married folks. And, um, isn't there something wrong with those who go it alone anyway?
Well, I'll rest easier tonight, knowing a study shows it's all OK.
Quote:
"If you look at never marrieds who are high on mastery -- they feel like they are in the driver's seat and in control of their lives -- and high on self-sufficiency -- they know how to take care of themselves -- they actually have better emotional well-being than married people," said study author Jamila Bookwala, an associate professor of psychology at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. Her report is published in the Nov. 30 issue of the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships.
And we don't make divorce lawyers rich or keep the country entertained with our drama.
"Myself and 3 of my friends are 43 yrs. old professional men, we have never married and are not gay. None of us thought we wouldn’t marry but here we are. We live in So Cal and I think I can speak for all of us when I say women here have unrealistic expectations and that is putting it as nicely as I can. In my life I have met exactly 4 women that I thought were marriage material unfortunately they were marrying other guys. Years later they are all still married and happy and I was right about them. I haven’t met any like them lately and frankly I stopped looking. I do what I want, when I want and I don’t ask for permission or forgiveness ever. Sometimes I feel like I’m missing out but then I look at the sunset from the beach in Cabo and I order another drink and that feeling fades away."

It's so hard to say how accurate the survey was since most people who are married tell strangers they are happy up until the day before their divorce. Can't really tell if they're happy or not.

Most men don't realize they are getting divorced until she pulls the plug. There may be signs such as she takes a greater interest in the financial affairs but these can be subtle and easy to conceal.
My brother is 41 and never married with no kids. He's done just fine so far. ow, he met some chick online who he's had ONE date with thus far and she's already yapping about marriage and kids and putting the smack down. I made another thread about it about a week ago, so I won't re-hash. But I'm just hoping he does the right thing by NOT giving up his singleness for this pushy, golddiggin' broad.

Now talking about that is a major turn off to most good men.
