I know some stories too. Thankfully, I'm not one of them. I bought my house almost 12 years ago...so no problem with equity, at all. I'm just looking to pay it off sooner and save the interest. Agreed...this is the time. I was in contact with a bunch of folks today...I'll be going to talk to the fellow at Wachovia in the morning I think. So far, he's got the best deal.
Take advantage now. I've got some real stories that will make you hairs curl about real estate. This guy I worked with has lost around 320K of real equity on his house, not just paper equity. He sunk about 320k into his home he bought about 3 yrs ago. His house value has litery been cut in half. I keep telling him wait about 3 to 7 yrs and it should come back, somewhat.
