Actually during our marriage I have made about 75% of our combined income and I do not owe him anything financially. If we divorced, it would hurt me financially much more than him.
He has made no effort to become more intellectual in his interests but I have agreed to attend events that match his interests like bowling and NASCAR.
He is who he is, and you are who you are.
Maybe a divorce, or some kind of separation, would be best since you are different people.
Moral of the story: Don't get married as a teenager or even early 20's.
I wonder what the statistics are for pre 21 divorces.
Most people under 21 are still setting their life goals, making new friends, still full of curiosity and ready to change their minds about a lot of things... I you get married when you're too young, you might get lucky but generally speaking it's bound to fail or be unsatisfying in the end.
Although of course the fact that your spouse is a good parent and a good partner is extremely important, being bored with him is not something to be ignored. If a relationship becomes severely limited and two people drift apart, only sharing responsibilities (like two business partners would), something needs to be done. If there's still love, no worries (no relationship is perfect, after all), but when there isn't anymore, just some vague affection... Hanging on for the sake of the children or for old time's sake, I don't know... My parents divorced when I was 8 and I am sincerely grateful that they at least were honest about their real feelings and aspirations. They only stayed together when they wanted to. That makes me remember fondly our time together as a family.
You know what? Just go and divorce. You don't love him. Good luck finding a knight in shining armour at age 45 and 4 kids....they usually want 18 and flawless.
