I figure I'd pay roughly half of that to the government. We'll just say that's $125 million gone, right there.
I'd stash $5 million or so in an offshore tax haven, just in case.
I'd put maybe ~$50 million in bonds and dividend-earning stocks.
I'd spend maybe $20 million on real estate in Charleston and somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere, and get a boat large enough to travel back and forth as the seasons change. I would never see another winter in my life
I'd donate maybe $5 million to coastal conservation, and $5 million to various university programs I am fond of, maybe get a building named after me.
I'd blow the remaining $40 million traveling and living lavish. With the dividend income I'd try to make it last.
