I don't get why people revere the 1950s. ok, society today is more sexually open and supposedly depraved. but i often think the only reason we are more liberal today is that for many the 1950s was a ****ty society. it's also no surprise that it's largely white males who revere the 1950s. kind of like people earning $1,000,000 a year supporting the idea of a reduction in progressive taxes in the upper tax brackets. it's human nature to support what benefits you.
In life, actions have reactions, and also everything has balance. the bad in our society is perhaps that we are too sexually immoral, but the good is that things are more open to all.
I am living in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale Area and I don't know if this is something going on every where but it seems like women between the ages of 14 and 27 are being brainwashed to be dress/act slutty. I am strongly emphasising the 14-19 demographic tho.
Yes, the fashion marketed to young women can be pretty skanky, but that is a fact we all know. I am talking about women working at hooters who wear it like a badge, or women who spend excessive amount of time and money getting hair extensions and spray on tans, women who get all of their confidence from what men think of them, women who disfigure their bodies with cosmetic surgery.
Its mind boggling.
I guess I used to dress somewhat hoochie, but I never acted that way.
I started realising all of this when I was an exotic dancer for a year (because I had to do it), not because I wanted to "feel sexy" or some bullcrap. I had to pay for some medical bills, buy a new car, and go back to college.
This was around the time I started dressing more conservative. I was being hit on and stared at all night at work and then during the day in my free time. Its straight up disrespect that some women take as a compliment. I was always being stared at like some toy (both at work and not at work). I realised that some people enjoy this. Some people enjoy the creepy leers.
Its one thing for someone to compliment you, but its another thing to yell "Thank-you daddy" across a crowded street.
Anyways, as soon as I paid for everything I needed to I went back to bartending.
It seems like a lot of young girls are just wannabe strippers. Its really sad.
In the 50s, society was turning young women into stepford wives. Now todays society is turning the young women into Stepford Sluts.
Why are so many women basing their self-worth off of what some horny guys think of them?
Its just really sad to me.
I am 21 so maybe I am just ahead of my time
I guess we should be more careful about what we wish for. But, I still think it is an improvement in modern times, to not resort to corporal punishment whenever a woman is pornographic enough to bare her ankles in public.
My post stated that besides the obvious fact that young women these days dress somewhat floozy, that is not what I was talking about.
Even if you want to go there, why is it fashionable for women to exploit our bodies and not for men?
I am sure there are plenty of ladies who would like to go in to the office and see a male co-worker exposing some ball cleavage or dick neck. Maybe even a deep V-neck so we can check out the chest hair.
hahahahahah sorry, but yeah? why not? i myself love a little v-peek of chest hair. women are in some ways as visual as men. ball cleavage? i swear, i am using that in a joke TODAY.

Are you serious? The 50's lady thing is so gone, it's gone like a cool breeze. It was mostly a big fat LIE anyway. If you stub your toe..... I'd expect you to at least say s***! Nowadays a f*** might even come out! LOL LOL,
Thanks for keeping it real. I look at young women who celebrate looking like trashy sluts like it's all good and I repeat my favorate slogan. There are prostitutes that work the streets and those that come out at night to the clubs/bars to do business - but they are the same people regardless. You have educated/career focused women dressing like tramps as well and its rediculous. Women have lost their mind, their decency, and their self respect and desire to be taken seriously and respected.

Can you provide some examples of women dressing the way you describe? How does it account for modern fashion trends? I think body paint could be considered a form of "clothing".

Maybe because it's the only way they'll get any attention?
I've gone out to bars dressed provocatively (not slutty by any means..but a little leg and a little cleavage...okay, I have giant boobs, a LOT of cleavage) and received lots of attention, both male and female. People want to be around you, they talk to you, they buy you drinks, they invite you out to other parties etc.
Then, I'll go out wearing nice jeans and a sweater that doesn't show much skin and I've actually had people turn their backs to me to block me out when talking to my friends. Same bars, same town and in some cases, the same people.
Is the 'attention' worth it? To me, no. To many women, it is.

To start, I don't believe that professional women are generally dressing like tramps. I'm a professional and work with professional women and don't witness this. Perhaps it's regional. It's certainly class oriented.
Further, I also don't understand why you are addressing "women" as if it's women in general. Perhaps it's the women in your life or even worse, perhaps what you see on TV. Either way, I am a woman and don't appreciate the disrespect you're dishing out here. And the women I know have certainly not lost their minds. They're productive scientists, many who volunteer their time to worthy causes, who are great moms and wives, etc.
