This cowpoke marries a woman, and they start their trip out to his ranch. On the way the horse pulling the wagon stumbles a bit. The cowpoke says, "that's ONE." Soon the horse looses his footing again, jerking the wagon. "That'sTWO", says the cowpoke. His new wife is getting worried, not sure what kind of guy she got herself hooked up with. When the horse again slips on rocks, the cowboy grabs his rifle, gets down, and shoots the poor horse dead.
The alarmed new wife says, "what's the matter with you, how will we move the wagon now!?"
To which the cowpoke replies, "that's ONE."
I joined CD after Rance had already been engaged. I don't know how they actually decided to meet each other. They had quite the long distance relationship, him in Alaska and her in Sweden I believe. How can you think you know someone enough to go so far to meet each other. Well, now they are happily married.

It is something I have pondered too. How is that any different than 130 years ago when people were settling on the frontier? They would write letters back and forth. And through correspondence agree to meet or meet and marry. Those that did lived a long happy life or as happy as the time would allow.
Yes it is possible, not sure on all the how and why's.

THAT ^ is exactly how I looked at it when MM and I first started talking and phoning and planning to meet up. I still think of it a little that way now, although obviously not as much seeing as we're pretty committed to each other despite the distance.
And in a way I think the distance has "forced" us to be more open with each other and treasure the time we do actually spend together more so than we'd followed a more traditional path.
All I know is that I've lived in the same house day in, day out with someone I met and started a relationship with in the usual way and he was very good at hiding his true self and his activities from me and on some level I was always suspicious because he gave me reason to be.
I've never really had those doubts with MM and sure we're back to being 1000s of miles apart again physically speaking but all the messages and conversations we've had and will continue to have connect us more solidly than if we were constantly together.
When we're together it's about doing and experiencing as much as we can (and I think we achieved that the last few months ) and when we're back to playing the distance game it's about talking and learning about each other in a more cerebral sense. NOT unsimilar to the "olden" days.

Heck, anybody can be happily married while living on another continent! Even I can!
No, not the Castro district - I'm in the 'south' South Bay i.e. by LAX. And I thought you already knew I love you, dear - if I go lesbionic it's either you or SBE aka MLV aka mjb.
Now I see why you were my first on city data
