Not sure why any 18 year old would be deciding NOW who they are going to marry in ten years, especially considering that you aren't even dating this girl. Ten years will be filled with "life changes/lesson" and you both will be different people at the end of it.

I doubt anything like this is "fairly common" but my dad kind of did the same thing. He was walking down the street with some of his Army pals when he saw my mom with some friends of hers. He was 22 and she was 15. He told his friends "I'm going to marry her someday" and hadn't even been introduced to her. They did marry five years later but I think this is extremely rare.
