I personally have no problem marrying a woman making more than me but what is left unstated in such articles is that these women seldom believe they are getting their money's worth.
This seems normal.. women earn most of the college degrees, women have a much lower unemployment rate than men. Women dominate the lower ~80% or so of the healthcare field (guesstimate), which is more or less the only growing sector of the economy at the moment (not a guesstimate).
If I could find a wealthy women who wanted to marry me...heck ye...I'd gladly go barefoot and cook and clean..(although if we were wealthy I suppose the butler or maid would do all that)...
I'd gladly stay at home and watch HD tv and movies all day while eating popcorn..then go out to the pool...then take a ride on the motorcycle...go to the sports bar, go bowling, camping, shopping...

Must have been one heck of a charismatic Navy contractor.
Edit: But after reading how his insecurity with her success eventually led to their breakup, maybe not.
