LOL I had this happen all the time when I waitressed. I just ignored the guy and his stupid googly eyes and paid most of my attention to the woman.

I went in to a Burger King near my house (not on a date) and both of the women behind the counter were relatively young but they were missing quite a few teeth. I've never found a single tooth in the front of a mouth surrounded by gaping holes on either side to be particularly attractive but maybe that's just me.

The IRS and various states assume a certain percentage of tips received in determining the individual's overall tax burden.

Good waiters and waitresses also tip-out their bussers and the cooks who clear their tables quickly so others can be seated and take special care with the dishes served by them
I don't know how it is in other states but here in AZ food servers HAVE to report 10% of their food sales as tips. In all honesty they actually make more than 10%, on average. There are people who tip nada, some who tip 10-15% and those who tip 20% or more. The latter generally make up for the slackers. So, in truth, servers don't generally get hurt too badly. If they have to tip out bussers, bartenders, or others, it isn't counted in their daily totals and they CAN deduct it so don't pay taxes on that. Bussers generally get 10-15% of a servers tips. When I got a good one I made sure they were 'taken care of'.

I always did the same thing! I remember one time when one of my co-workers approached a table, tried to tell them what the specials of the day were but the guy wasn't paying any attention. She reached out and just touched the guy on his hand, to get his attention, and the gal with him came TOTALLY unglued! It was kinda shocking at the moment but we had a good laugh about it later.

I think that was true for any state,...back when Reagan was president.

Not so! Imagine all/or most of your tips were on credit cards. It's all computerized now, so all your credit card tips show up under your name and number. Most places you are claiming only your cash, all your credit card tips are already in the system under your name. After tipping out a busser and a bartender, you could be paying taxes on more money than you actually walked out with. And, at most places you tip bussers and bartenders according to your food/bar sales, NOT according to your tips. Non-tippers or cheapskates, mostly credit card tips, etc. can hurt pretty badly on some nights.
Moral of the story:

Cough it up squeaky!

Or stay home and make it yourself.

Note to self: Apply for waiter position.

Next time, carefully check the burger for any teeth.

It's still true here. Yeah, nobody can 'fudge' on credit card tips but the majority of mine were always cash. It doesn't matter though because the amount you report is still based on FOOD SALES no matter what form the tip comes in. With restaurants mostly all being computerized these days there's a blank to report your tips and another to deduct what you have paid out to others, which is then deducted from your totals and therefore won't be taxed as income for you. The person you tipped out has to report what you gave them as their income. Pretty simple, no?

I can't say I've ever been "hurt" money wise. I always made very good money, which is why I did it. The cheapskates and the non tippers never bothered me much because I knew I'd still be okay. They can be jackasses if they like but a server cannot let it get to them. I've seen servers get pissed at one table and take it out on the next one, which will pretty much guarantee ANOTHER bad experience for them. It's best to blow it off.
