For someone like me I know exactly how many girls/women I have been with.
Now for people who have had tons of sexual partners......
Do they actually have a number in their head, of exactly how many they have had.
I expect that each person is different. For people that it matters to, they probably do keep a tally in their head. For me, it would take far too long to go back and revisit the past to come up with a number. So I don't even go there. I'm sure my BF would be appalled anyway, so I think I'd rather not even know.

Discussing and/or keeping numbers is a monumental waste of time and anybody overly interested in numbers needs to find another hobby.

I don't think you are going to get many people admitting they've had tons of sexual partners and how they keep count.
For most men, I'm sure they don't want to hear how many were before them and even 1 will be too many. So I don't think it's discussed much. That's why it's so important to take your sexual health very seriously.
I don't know what is considered "tons of partners", but I have definitely had my fair share and do not know the number. Not because of it being so high, but because the thought never crossed my mind to count.
I know a young woman who brags about how men she has had sex with but who knows if it is true. She has no problem telling anyone who will listen that she has had sex with over 300 men. Problem is once you get to know her, you find out she lies about everything.
