So, my friend has a situation not unlike Jeepgirl's. She met this guy, he did all the romance stuff, he pushed her to marry ASAP.....he also beat her, once, bad, and she is now in hiding. I voulntered to go collect her stuff from her apartment and yes I am going with a guy friend . Anyone done this before?
I sense if he sees anyone that is not her, he will not show face, but hate to be proved wrong in this situation.

Call the local sheriff's dept and ask for an escort to retrieve her things. They are happy to just go and wait outside to head off any trouble. When dealing with irrational controlling people who are probably feeling very much out of control at the moment, it could be very dangerous for you to be there without some backup other than just a guy friend. I would NOT go without a deputy.

The problem is I am in Turkey. So unless someone is 1/2 dead, you might get 1/2 a response at best

Geez, I'd love to see Turkey one day, but you live there?? Now I'm not so sure you should go at all. Don't those male-oriented societies look the other way when a man beats a woman? What's to stop him from beating you???

Like I said, I could visit, but I could never live in that kind of society
Well, can you take along some mace? And can you go when he's least likely to be there?
Maybe you can hire someone to do this? Maybe a local cop who would like to pick up a few bucks right after his shift ends?
