I think "sex addiction" was a term invented for famous men that cheat on spouses.

I'm a female and was dubbed a sex addict when I was in high school. I have addictive tendencies so it might have been a real thing. I did see a therapist for it.

"Sexual addiction" is no longer in the latest DSM-IV-TR, although it had been in earlier editions. There IS an entry for a miscellaneous diagnosis called Sexual Disorders Not Otherwise Specified, which now includes: "distress about a pattern of repeated sexual relationships involving a succession of lovers who are experienced by the individual only as things to be used."

I believe it is now viewed as hypersexuality with companion symptoms shared with bipolar disorder and schizoaffective disorder.

No, I do not suffer from it. Not at all. In fact, I enjoy it.

I think it is real.

There are people that can't get enough. They even resort to prostitutes.

I, however, have not entered that stage thankfully but I find sex an addicting thing.

It's a multi-billion dollar a year business here in the US. There is something to be said.

Why just the title of this thread made me enter to see. I'm so naughty.

There is a book called "Love sick" about a woman addicted to sex, but I believe most woman that are like that were molested when kids.

They made a Movie about it, google it. It is very interesting.

It also could/can apply to women. Often the ones, no matter how good or he rocks their world, they must get it elsewhere. It's more about "strange".

Compulsive behavior is unhealthy. Having an uncontrollable urge to perform an act.

Female peak at 30 though and men go down from 18.
