Flip it around. Imagine criticizing someone and it suddenly hits you that you're just as guilty of what you're accusing the other person of. Sometimes, that's what it takes to realize your own mistakes.

actually it was responsible mostly for my ending a friendship i had with an old college friend

many of his put downs toward me were about because i was still a virgin in my early 20's and he wasn't. when i confronted him about his put downs his response to me was a very "sincere sanctimonious" sounding " the problem is i see a lot of what i used to be in you"

the other problems i had with him were because he was just an elitist know it all and despite the fact that i was a virgin back then, i think he was actually jealous of me

to this day i was sorry i ever met him and still don't understand how i dragged it out for 4 years. i am always on guard for this type of character today, seems they are everywhere
