Since I have lived I have heard so many times that a man should respect a woman. But I don't think I have once heard someone say that a woman should have respect for a man. What is this all about?

Gender roles. When it comes to dating, women still wants to be treated like the queen/princess they feel they deserved to be.

Everyone should be respectful to everyone else, regardless of gender. That's just living in polite society.

I'm young but well educated so I feel I can comment on this. Isn't it common sense that having mutual respect for each other in a relationship is the only it will survive? I mean if one partner doesn't have respect for the other, I don't see how it could move past the first date. Unless the other partner relishes on being treated like trash. Psychologically, wouldn't that be abuse?

Well it is common sense...but it seems, as a whole, there is an imbalance of respect between men and women Could be because of the feminist movement which empowered women, but also made them overpowered to the point where they can easily trash another man for his despicable actions, but men can't easily do the same to women in a similar situation...or else they scream sexism

I don't think it's that women shouldn't respect men. I think the emphasis is on men respecting women because are more likely to treat a woman like thing rather than a person than women treating men the same way. What I hear most about women is that women shouldn't treat a man like he's only good for money.
