I actually think that I would, on the contingency that: he is truly talented as well as intelligent, that he would network and work his butt off to chase his dream, and no drug uses.

The problem is that dating may lead you to fall in love with the person. What if you fall in love and want to get married? Then what? Are you just willing to date for the rest of your life because you don't want to be ruined by your spouse's financial problems?

If you're wealthy, I guess it's a moot point. But if you make an average income, what would you do?

if they are having problems paying their bills, no I would not involve myself in that situation b/c I have enough problems of my own as it is....I notice a lot of artists/musicians do not prioritize correctly. If you're 47 year old man in a rock band still trying to "hit it big" -- that's all well and good but you need to have a decent reliable, paying job until that happens (ahem).

Yep, I've been there and done that and I've decided that I don't mesh well with the personality type drawn to creative pursuits. Funny thing is, I used to be quite the dreamer myself but it was a constant battle with my practical side until I got so burned out that I totally lost interest in that particular creative pursuit. Some of my problem, honestly, is jealousy. I wish I still felt like the entire world was destined to know my name. But I also don't want to deal with the emotional ups and downs and often neglect that comes with dealing with someone whose ego is about 10 times larger than your average normal person.

Yes, been there done that.

a lot of people have a problem with it but don't realize, when dating an artist you will always come 2nd when it comes to craft.
