I have always wanted to try speed dating! I don't have anyone to go with me though, and no way in hell I'm going alone

I have thought about joining a local singles group, but they are SO expensive! I know they do a lot of fun, expensive activities (traveling being the most expensive) and I would LOVE to participate, but there is a line...the line for me is about $20. I think the sign-up fee is around $300--and that doesn't include the actual activities!

I guess I'll have to stick with my free church group. Luckily in my church, we have entire congregations dedicated to single adults like me.

i had very good experience with going to two different "singles groups." One was a singles group for hiking/camping. I did activities there for several years. In a different state I joined a singles group through church, and was active there for several years, included hiking, theater, movies, eating, hearing musicians. It was so successful that so many people ended up getting married that the group disbanded.

those were win-win for me because I participated in activities that I enjoyed, I made friends both men and women, and it was no-pressure as far as getting hit on

speed dating is a blast

a bunch of us from work wanted to know what it was like, but none of them except me were brave enough to go. So i was sent as the emissary, and reported back to them what it was like

it was a lot of fun, and I'm glad i went, would definitely recommend it to anyone if you are curious, just to say you did it. Of the 10 guys i met 7 of them wanted to go out with me. You check a little form at the end, it is all very private, no feelings are hurt, and there is no awkwardness, you get an e-mail the next day and it's up to you if you ever want to contact them. No identities or personal contact information is revealed.. It was just hilarious to put myself there. View it as a fun experience. Seeing all those guys dressed up in sport coats and looking nice, it was very sweet.

They have them by "age range" too so you can be with people an age you are comfortable with, that helped, it wasn't a bunch of much younger people.

i definitely recommend it

I did that once too on Valentine's day my friend's church had a single mingle thing. Only thing is I don't mind a holy roller...but don't be a preacher to this teacher. The dancing was fun though.
