Anne, everybody is different and everybody has his/her preference. Exploring each other's body is fun when both have open minds and provide guidance along the way. You cannot expect everybody knows what to do with your body. The best approach is to show him and guide him so that you will enjoy it.

I don't think she was looking for suggestions. She didn't ask for advice or instructions. She was wondering how and why a 40-year-old man could be an inept lover. Sounded rhetorical to me--we don't know the guy.
Is it unrealistic to expect - and yes, I do mean expect - a 40 year old man who has had a few long term relationships in addition to other partners to be competent in bed AND know how to give oral?
How do you get to that age and not understand these things???????
If he hasn't figured it out by now, then I'd say part of the fault lies with his previous partners. You'd think they would've given him some instruction. Maybe he just didn't listen.
