People who online date. No offense to people who do, but I always assume that those people are desperate. I mean a one stop shop of dating. It's comparable to people who go to Mcdonalds vs. strolling to find a nice eatery.

Your thread....you go first darlin`.
Okay, I'll go:
I'm communicating with this girl on eharmony ( I know, NYchi) who seems very eager.
1. She wanted to skip the site's guided communication and go straight to direct communication, which seems a little forward to me.
2. After I sent my little "introduction" message, she responded three hours later with a message three times as long as mine.
3. In her message she seemed very, VERY happy to meet me online--almost too happy. It was odd.
Is this desperate dating behavior? Or am I being silly here?

No offense taken. I tried online dating because I live in a rural area, and though I want to get married, I'm pretty content with being single. But with two girls like this in a row, I'm beginning to wonder if the online dating world is full of desperate people...

Oh, my! She wants to escape the sterile environment of eharmony and enter the awful, scary world of direct (also online) communication! The insane daredevil!

OMG! She's interested in you! How horrible! Both of you are on this site to... ? Treat your reading disabilities...? Improve your typing skills...?

Holy cow! She even dares be happy to meet you! The gall she has! Shame on her!

I think that women who do online dating are more so desperate than men, because most half-descent women will get approached in the real world. Men on the other hand may resort to online dating because they are shy and so forth. IMO, she seems desperate, but trust your instincts.

Well, I'm going to give it a chance. My instincts could always be wrong.
