I met my future wife through OkCupid.

That said, I wasn't there because of dating or finding partners, and neither was she. The tests provided me entertainment when I should've been busy at school, and the chat was fun (for as long as it lasted). We met on the chat, and got closer when the chat closed and a selected few members opened a private one. This is a good... 3-4 years ago, we got serious about a year ago, and will marry in the fall.

I also know of at least 3 other couple from the same group, neither was on OkCupid to date though, funnily enough.

Really?

I accessed the site for a week and the women in there looked like those I see when I rarely drive into a McDonald's drive through or the janitor in an all-mexican grocery store which caters to the amigos primarily

So I ran back to match

Yep. He actually won the "best lawyer" award in the area, this year. Very nice, very professional. He did sign up on match later, though, and he said he preferred that site over POF. It was funny, I had just signed up on POF as a lark, mostly because Mathguy touts it so highly, so I figured I'd give it a shot...and BAM I met the lawyer almost right away. We did date exclusively for 6 months though, and probably still would be to this day, if I had been content, but I wasn't.

But I am very glad I stayed on that site, because that is where I met my current BF too. And we are very, very happy.

I suppose it depends on the area you live in. I live in an area that is about the 35th-largest metropolitan area in the US; around 1.7 million people, even though I myself live in a relatively rural section. So, I'm sure the choices are greater for some than for others.

Maybe it was the Denver area coz I was looking in a 50 mile radius. But CO is faaaaaar from ghetto coz in the outside world, I always see normal and regular women.

Or maybe it was the site's layout with tons of pop-ups and the like. The one week I accessed the site I was like this ~~~~>

Yeah...that was exactly what I did NOT like about it...I thought it was somewhat "cheesy". But I'm a very persistent person...one thing I have a lot of, is patience. Thank GOD. I have a 17 year old, so I need it.

I only tried match and okcupid and didn't meet anyone, but I wasn't really serious since it was too soon--I had several dates though. I liked the layout of cupid way better than that of match--wish I could have the combo of layout of okcupid with the quality of the customers on match. Actually it's funny I said that, b/c the weirdest date I had was from match--he had an arm fetish and kept staring at my forearms with obvious relish.

Cupid was fun, but it was mainly men who were 20 years younger who were contacting me--it did a lot for my ego, but that's not what I was looking for.
