I worked a day shift... Was at the job right at 6 months, so time off was hard to come by. After I came home, we dressed up, went to town, ate one of the better restaurants, each had a nice glass of white wine. Afterwords we went for a drive through the country side. It was just her and me.
The day fell on a Monday, and my husband wanted to take me to a fancy restaurant he really liked. He forgot to make reservations beforehand, but tried to call that day for evening reservations. No answer, so he figured they were closed for lunch. Turns out they were closed on Mondays, as some restaurants are. We went down the street to some little sandwich joint next to a tattoo place.
I have always liked the in the moment kind of things. Have an idea and go from there. Planning is nice, but both looking at something and deciding that might be fun to try.
I spent several months planning a vacation to Banff in Alberta for our first anniversary. We didn't get to go on a honeymoon so this trip was going to be extra special. Plus it was my 25th birthday.
I paid for a condo for 5 nights and got a hotel room at the fanciest hotel in town for our last night there.
We started driving from CO to Alberta early in the morning a couple days before our actual anniversary. The road trip was great....except that we never made into Canada.
Why do you ask? Well, I'd been to Canada several times before since most of my family is from there. So none of the outcome was my fault...
The Canadian Border Patrol would not let my husband in the country because he had a rap sheet...that I was UNAWARE OF. He had a misdemeanor for domestic violence and harassment - which is a FELONY in Canada. I didn't know how to feel. I was told I was fine and I could enter the country but I wasn't going to.
We turned around and drove back to Colorado. We stopped at Yellowstone on the way back but I was already pissed. I'd been looking forward to going to Banff for almost 5 years and I was so happy to have found someone who liked the outdoors as much as me. That trip was ruined.
All of the money spent on the condo and the hotel in Canada was NON-REFUNDABLE. It was around 2 grand. Plus we rented a car to drive there and that was another 560 dollars. Not to mention the gas since we got a Pathfinder and the gas mileage was not that great.
We are getting divorced and as much as it hurts, shlt like this is what comforts me because I know I am making the right decision.
Yeah, next time I date someone I am going to make sure he is not a criminal.
We went to a Cubs/Dodgers game. Had an early dinner at a quaint little place in Summerland California called The Yellow House. Then I turned her into a pretzel for about 2 hours under the pier in Pismo Beach!
