Holy s**t Batman!!! A revelation!!!!
Yes the opposite sex loves it when one can kid about themselves. Just don't go overboard or it can be just as bad as taking yourself too seriously.
Seinfeld once said "Always leave them laughing."
I had a new client at work on Friday who didn't remember who I was and I told her that I spoke to her last week and her response was-"OH I REMEMBER YOU NOW, YOU ARE THE BIG GUY RIGHT?
So I told all my female coworkers what she said and I was like-"what the hell does she mean big guy and stood up in front of all them with a confused look like I had a six pack"
They were all laughed so hard and one of girls even defended me by saying-"he is not big just husky"
Then another female co worker said if I eat more salads I will lose my stomach. I then said-"WHAT STOMACH?? She laughed so hard as I was standing up pretending to not have a stomach with a confused look on my face trying to find chubbiness.
So Guys who are overweight and trying to find that special girl just have the ability to POKE FUN at yourself which will have them attracted to you.
I guess the Confidence is attractive
Confidence is good. Constantly putting yourself down is not a sign of confidence though. Make a jest or two at most and then go on.
BTW, did you have sex with any of these women? Being a clown may get you attention and a pat on the head but it often doesn't get you laid which is where it counts. Yes, yes the "he makes me laugh" line I've heard women say about less attractive boyfriends has *some* validity but most of the overweight clowns I know (BTW, not trying to say that you are a clown, just that your actions in this particular case is a bit clownish), aren't getting action.
I hope that I have not offended- it was not my intent.
In my experience, poking fun at yourself a little bit is okay, but I try not to overdo it. Yeah, they may laugh but too much wil kill any sexual attraction towards you. Use it very sparingly.
Agreed. Chris Farley, who was rich and famous, did this all the time even outside of perfroming. He used prostitutes.... alot... and wasn't known to be dating very attractive women for any extended period of time.
Sometimes i just enter the office with a broad smile on my face .. people often asked me the reason behind it .. thats right folks i leave it behind at the relief camp .. what could be better than relieving the root of all the stress ha ? .. well that makes up for a good day at work lol
Anyways those who didnt understand can call 1-800-FLUSH ! outsourcing at its best .. customer satisfaction guaranteed !

This is a perfect example. If you have Brad Pitt (or whoever the "hot guy" is nowadays)type looks you can get away with poking fun at yourself a lot more than a guy who may have issues (overweight, inexperienced, shy etc.). In that case you should avoid too much of that or you will end up looking like a clown.

I didn't say I go out my way to POKE FUN at myself, I said my confidence I showed when I pretended not to have a stomach made her laugh.
And it also tells me she is checking out my body without me knowing for her to comment on my stomach.

A little self humiliation never hurt anyone. Knowing your flaws and poking fun at them shows you are humble and have a sense of humor. I'm a bit of a prankster/jokester anyway and will do it just to make people laugh. If I turn one frown a day into a smile or better yet a laugh, I am happy!

Oh PLEASE! Everything that happens to you has to have some deep ulterior message and everything that happens to you which others take entirely for granted is, for you, an epiphany. What happened to the date with the 40 year old or are you now considering your coworkers as potential marks?

Well, as with everything else... it depends on the person.
I had a girlfriend who was the more "serious" type. Very smart, attractive, and nice, but lacking a little in the sense of humor department.
Anyway... I would make self-deprecating jokes once in a while, and they either went over her head, or she would argue with me. As in "that's not true, you're not like that at all!" It was kind of annoying, actually. Dammit woman, I'm trying to be funny!!
If it's the right girl, the occasional self-deprecating stuff can be awesome. In her case, it bombed.
