I forget who said this, but men fall in love through their eyes and women fall in love through their ears.

Or something like that.

Pitch is important to me, but accent is even more important. I couldn't date someone who sounded like Tony Manero. Likewise, my guy said he couldn't date anyone who sounded like Fran Drescher. I guess 20-odd years south of Mason-Dixon served me well, but considering he has lived on Long Island his whole life, I really don't know why his accent isn't thicker.

I think that men also pay attention to female voices, although they may not even realize it.

Whew, you want to talk about heavy-heavy-heavy male voices, how about this one? This is the voice almost every "real man" inspires to sound like. Joe has one of the most powerful voices in the business and has so for over 40 years!

My voice is like a young girl. My friends say I sound like a kid.

Do you prefer Yogi Bear, or Boo Boo?

I do impressions. And there was a period when I got "stuck" with a voice because I had been doing for so long I had forgotten how to speak normally.

Yes we do. I cannot stand a shrill voice, or nasal voice. Manly voices are a turn off too. Some voices that are like finger nails on a chalk board to me:

Hillary Clinton
Fran Drescher
Rosie O'Donnell
Roseanne
Rosie Perez
Joy Behar

My husband has a deep voice. I've always liked it. I remember when we were in high school--he called the house and asked for me. My mom said, "Julia, there's some MAN on the phone for you" and wanted to know who it was. She didn't believe me at first that he was a boy from my school.

Nice voices are extremely attractive. One girl I met last year who was a great package - beauty, education, manners, intellect, class - also had a very sweet, gentle, feminine voice. Too bad it didn't work.

But it can be deceitful too. I know a younger guy who's got a great voice, but there's something "dark" about him. I don't know what it is, but I just get a very bad vibe about him. He's very smart, but he also comes across as cocky and I feel he is one who would use his intellect and charm deceitfully. I warned a young woman who liked him to avoid him because of this. She herself admitted that she noticed this guy, while having a great voice and other attributes, had something about him that just unsettled her.
