I may do what a friend of mine's mother did. Her mother gave her a medical guide that talked about the gender differences, went into graphic detail of STD's and showed pictures of the STD's. She said it scared her so bad that she kicked the guys butt who tried to kiss her the first time haha!
When I was in high school, girls were sexually active, a lot of them felt pressure from their boyfriends to put out, and we were all bombarded with images of sex. And there were always a certain number of girls who slept around in order to be popular with the cool guys. So in that respect, not much has changed.
What has changed is that people are more open about sex. We use sex to sell stuff on TV, we had a President who got caught in a scandal where oral sex suddenly became a subject of the evening news, and we have commercials for erectile dysfunction every 5 minutes. What's also changed is that girls are maturing a lot faster. I'll see girls now who are 10 or 11 and they look like they're 15, probably cause all the growth hormone in dairy is causing these kids to develop even sooner than they should be.
I am not that old and I will tell you I did not know about half of the stuff on commercials until I was an adult!
The filmstrip of STD photos we watched in health class in junior high scared the crap out of me. You can bet that I was fully armed and very picky because of that.
You spoke of the pill, and how it enabled girls to have sex with no complications today. Many of the teens I know do not protect themselves. We have an epidemic of teen pregancy and STDs, so it is obvious that they are not responsible enough to engage in sexual activity. Do you have children? Do you honestly think it is ok for 13 year olds to have sex? I can't even imagine adults not wanting young people to value themselves and protect themselves.
Yes, we are talking about children who forget to make their bed or take out the garbage.
Yep lets bet they will remember that pill
I blame the girls for some of it, the boys for some, and the parents for some.
I know my niece has had minimal supervision and at 21 she is pregnant AGAIN by some guy. She claims this is her 'love of her life' but 1) I have never seen any photos of him or her together up on any of her social network sites. What young girl doesn't love showing off her guy?
2) She had a baby with another player 2 years ago. Yes, he has kids already by various women.
Where my niece lives apparently she is part of a big enclave of single girls with various babies by numerous men... There is no stigma with having these babies. The girls glorify in it as they scrape by living off the state w/mom and dad or mom and her latest fling...
In the culture of these men (avoiding racism here) it is considered good to have many kids by many women and a badge of manhood. Too bad these 'men' don't take responsibility and hand over $$$ in stead of expecting the state to foot the bill.
Her brother is no better. He has a kid with his LT girlfriend, but at least they are in a relationship, if barely. He's not really responsible enough to be a father.
To men, the whole thing is stupid. At 19 or 20 or 22 use birth control. Don't prove that you love these losers by bearing their kids...kids they don't even pay for...
I hate how ghetto culture has been embraced by mainstream young people...
in 50 short years american has done a pinapple upside down cake.
40% of young people under 30 got tattoos.
1 in 3 lives at home again under 30
over 40% of preganancies are to unwed mothers.
the lost generation.

This is quite an interesting topic. I heard a podcast about it recently. Women with tattoos are viewed as skanky by many people, especially older ones. Apparently this stems from about 100-150 years ago when the only women who got tats were prostitutes and 'easy women.'
Today women are still judged harshly for tattoos.
1 in 3 young people are living 'at home' due to the economy...there are some people in their 50s living 'at home again.' Let's not be biased.
