There's this friend who has a different first language than mine and she's offered to teach me some. I of course would like to ask her out.

Soooo, what if I ask her (with a slightly cheeky grin ) how to say: "I want to be more than friends." In her language?

Or do you think that's just silly?

It does not impress anyone. I know because I tried it on a nice Jewish girl I always eyeball. One day I thought I would surprise her by saying shalom only to have her simply say hello back.

Think of a better line and it might work. But if you screw up that line your azz is grass to her. But good luck to ya.

Yeah I guess it's cute..... Just don't get nervous when saying that line or she'll notice it.

I think it's cheesy and trying too hard to be clever - just ask her out like a normal person.

It's cute but a little too much before your first date. Ask her out on a date first, then if the date goes well, tell her what a great time you had and then say it.

depends on the language and the mood. Some languages just arent sexy or cant be made sexy by novices

It depends on who's saying it.

It's French so pretty much everything sounds sexy

Good point. If she likes me she'll think it's cute, if not she'll think it's dumb, it doesn't matter how well I say it.
