I never wanted any kids...I was gonna stay single and free forever, with 2 cats and a dog for company.
Then I got married (twice) and had kids (4)!
Of course I love my kids to death, but if I had a chance to go back and do it all over again, I'd be lying if I didn't say I would most likely stick to my original plan. I miss my single, kid-free life...yes, I said it!
OTOH, it may be the fact I am 41 and have 3 kids under 6, when I am at the age when most people have their first grandchild.
Oh God no! I'm 44 and I don't want any grandchildren yet...for a really long time! LOL!!
I have kids...I love my kids and wouldn't trade them for the world, but I totally respect those who choose to remain child-free. Nowhere is it written that someone ABSOLUTELY has to have kids...
I just turned 35. No kids, no desire for them. I love my cat way too much. Basically no grief from anyone except a few. It's my life and I'm happy with the way it is..
39, never want to give birth, zero pressure from family and friends (everyone I make friends with is very "live and let live"). The only people that have had issue with this are a few boyfriends - no kids=no marriage. I'm just not a matronly person. Instead of babysitting when I was young, I mowed lawns for money. Babysitting = 8 hours trapped in some neighbor's house, a pounding headache from the boring conversation about dinosaurs from 5 year old, receive $10*. Lawn mowing = 45 minutes, fresh air and freedom, set my own schedule, collect $15-20* per lawn and spend the rest of the day at the swimming pool. I prefer freedom over being trapped.
I mowed my neighbor's lawn in '88. He provided the mower, the gas, the upkeep, all I provided was the muscle power to push it around. $5 per mow. Of course, in the summer, it was twice a week.
Wow, you were cheated! I brought the mower and also weed wacked, raked the clippings, and swept the driveway. Corner lots paid more. Loads of elderly retirees from the Northeast that were handsomely paid in their working days. Avoided young families and trashy yards. My best customer was an older couple from England who tipped me $20!! - but my mother made me return it.
Please refrain from "if it happens it happens, if it doesn't, it doesn't" or "I didn't want them, but then my little miracle came along" stories! hehe
Just the women who don't want kids. Tell me what life is like for you, how old are you? Do you get a lot of grief for your decision? Is there pressure from your family and friends? How do you deal with it?
Thanks
I think most, maybe even all women do not want children.
And your mother... Women do not want children. I think it is usually the man who wants children, not the woman.
